The ancients read the day in the sun’s wayfaring: from depth to day, earth’s hollow to the sweep of sky. This sconce follows that turning; a lower sphere in darkness, a spine climbing upward, culminating in the stacked, chalice-like shade and luminous bulb, a small sun lifted from the underworld. Its form echoes the cadenced incisions of cuneiform, the first scratches made to give sense to the world. At hand in four material-hue combinations of hand-crafted brass and marble finishes.
